True Shockwave & Flashwave® Therapy for Athletic Performance & Rehab

If you have a persistent sports injury, are interested in safely boosting performance or reducing recovery time, or are looking for an alternative to surgery, this could be the solution.

For anyone familiar with the body’s response to acoustic waves, it is easy to see how this modality has become a highly effective treatment for augmenting athletic performance and speeding the healing of muscles, tendons and ligaments and joint pain.

Our athletic performance and rehabilitation programs use True Shockwave™, Flashwave® or Radial Pressure Wave therapies to target desired results. Treatments include:

Feet to Thigh: treats leg tightness from feet to hamstrings, quadriceps to shin muscles.
Hips to Shoulders: treats hips, lower-middle-upper back, pectoral and hip muscle tightness.
Shocking Great Posture: activates weak muscles while relaxing hard-to-reach tight ones.
Scar Activa™: treats scar tissue from surgery or sports injuries
Strength-Endurance Optimizer (SEO): increases muscle performance, recovery and endurance for athletes and sports professionals. Custom treatment programs specific to your sport. We use body composition ultrasound technology to monitor and evaluate tissue change.

True Shockwave™ Therapy for Performance Optimization and Sports Injuries

True Shockwaves™ (also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy or ESWT) are acoustic shock waves that reach deep into the tissue, and can immediately provide pain relief and mobility restoration while stimulating regenerative muscle and tissue healing at the cellular level.

An extracorporeal shockwave is a true shockwave, in physical terms. Initially used for breaking up kidney stones (lithotripsy), extracorptoreal shockwaves were noted to increase the density of nearby bones. Through research, it was discovered that the shockwaves could stimulate stem cell growth and trigger a healing response in many different applications—making them ideal for sports optimization and rehabilitation for anyone from professional athletes to weekend warriors.

Extracorporeal shockwaves travel up to 12.5cm deep into the body with no loss of energy and can penetrate tissues up to 20cm deep with some energy loss. As a result of the accuracy, depth and low impact at application, extracorporeal shockwave therapy is excellent for the treatment of chronic tendinopathies, complex muscular pain, bone fractures, shoulder and knee injuries, and even open wounds.

While a Radial Pressure Wave (often incorrectly referred to as “Shockwave” by many practitioners) is created through mechanical forces, True Shockwaves™ are created using either a electrohydraulic, piezo-electric and/or electromagnetic wave generator in combination with specially formulated liquids. Because of how the wave is produced, it travels much deeper into tissue with greater precision, less energy loss and less pain.

Flashwave® Therapy for Muscle Growth and Rehabilitation

Flashwaves® are the latest evolutionary leap in extracorporeal shockwaves, with each impulse carrying a greater number of joules per shock than any other extracorporeal shockwave device presently on the world market. The Flashwave® applicator has a larger focal zone, providing a muscular treatment that is more precise and more comfortable overall.

All Flashwaves® are shockwaves; however, only specialized shockwaves are Flashwaves®. Because of the energy carried with each ‘flash’, this technology has been specifically indicated for musculoskeletal, athletic performance and rehabilitation. Flashwaves® are effective for stimulating muscle activation and communication with the nervous system, re-programming movement patterns and stimulating muscle fibre growth. Clients who have received Flashwave® Therapy have reported gains in lean muscle mass after a single treatment.

True Shockwave™ or Flashwave®? No need to wonder.

Our therapists will assess your situation and formulate a True Shockwave™, Radial Pressure Wave or Flashwave® treatment plan appropriate for achieving the most effective and lasting results.
