Painless, Drug-Free Treatments that Correct the Root Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
At Upain Clinic, we use Shockwave Therapy for ED treatment and other Men’s Health conditions.
True Shockwave™ and Flashwave® are among the best treatment options available in regenerative medicine. They work by breaking down unwanted restrictions, such as scar tissue, and stimulating new blood vessel growth to the penis and surrounding tissues. Wave treatment for ED has been used in Europe for decades in urological treatments, including kidney stones, Peyronie’s disease, pelvic floor weakness and ED.
Benefits of Shockwave Therapy for ED Issues:
- Therapies without medication or surgery
- Short treatment sessions
- No reported side effects
- Pain free, no anesthesia required
- Stimulates the body’s natural repair mechanism
- Replaces medications with spontaneity
Over 50% of men over the age of 40 have experienced Erectile Dysfunction (ED). For years, it was believed that the cause of ED was strictly psychological; however, it is now more widely understood that the cause of ED is often physical and is usually a result of impaired blood flow.
True Shockwave™ and Flashwave® are exceptionally successful on vasculogenic ED, that is, impairment as a result of blood flow to the penis. For ED resulting from diabetes, results have been very promising but may require more frequent ‘tune-up’ sessions as a result of the disease itself. For those struggling with ED as a result of natural aging, the effects of the treatment are long-term and significant. Unfortunately, there is little evidence to suggest that shockwaves are as effective on ED caused by nerve damage. It is best to consult your physician and/or therapist regarding the cause of your ED.
True Shockwave™ and Flashwave® work by disrupting and removing any tissue that should not be present, such as scar tissue, while simultaneously stimulating new blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) to the impacted tissue. As a result of treatment, tissue responds with better range of motion due to fewer restrictions and overall improvement in circulation to the area. More circulation and less scar tissue means better healing.
Erectile Dysfunction is defined as the inability to attain or sustain an erection and it develops for a variety of reasons. Whether this is a result of aging or disease, such as diabetes, the overall effect of the shockwaves are the same. While a full treatment protocol of 6 sessions is highly recommended for optimal success, most clients have seen results after only 2 sessions.
Every pelvic health treatment is performed by one of our knowledgeable, registered physiotherapists. Extracorporeal shockwaves or Flashwaves® are applied to the muscles of the anterior, superior and pelvic floor, the perineal area under the testicles and also to the shaft of the penis. True Shockwaves™ and Flashwaves® are able to cause cellular change in the targeted tissue without damaging a single cell around it. Treatments are relatively pain-free, non-invasive, short in duration and produce long-term results. All ED treatments at our facility are performed using the latest technology shockwave systems and genuine Flashwave® products, each of which are the most advanced device of their kind on the market today.
Our Standard ED treatment protocol lasts 5 weeks and is a claimable physiotherapy treatment with benefits plans that have physiotherapy coverage. While many clients see results after 2 sessions, we recommend waiting about 6 weeks from the last treatment to evaluate efficacy of the protocol, as improvements occur predominantly after treatments have stopped.
True Shockwave™ or Flashwave® Therapy for Induratio Penis Plastica (IPP)
Induratio penis plastica (IPP), also known as Peyronie’s disease, is an acquired and generally progressive condition of the penis. Most men notice the presence of the disease when they feel thickened nodules (so-called plaques) under the skin of the penis. As the disease progresses, pain may occur with or without an erection and the penis becomes curved during an erection, which can make it difficult or impossible to have sexual intercourse. When treating IPP, the pain points in the penis are treated with extracorporeal shockwaves.
True Shockwave™ or Flashwave® Therapy for Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)
Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) is characterized by pain in the region of the pelvic floor. Further symptoms are problems with urination without evidence of urinary tract infection. Some patients experience erectile dysfunction. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is performed using a perineal approach, treating the prostate and the pelvic floor.
Flashwave® URO for Men’s Health
Flashwave® technology is sometimes compared to Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, but they each work a little differently in every application. The key differences between Flashwave® and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy for ED are:
- Flashwave® CCI applicators have a larger focal zone, meaning the impulse is distributed across multiple nerve endings, reducing the overall pain stimulus to the brain during treatment.
- Greater energy delivered per shock means a better treatment with lowered response time.
- Flashwave® stimulates muscle growth; the penis is an organ controlled by several muscles that are all needed to function properly. Although Flashwave® will not increase the penis size, it will stimulate activation and growth of muscles in the penis and pelvic floor, providing better functionality overall. Although Flashwave® will not increase the penis size, some clients have reported gains in thickness. Overall, Flashwave® will stimulate activation and growth of muscles in the penis and pelvic floor, providing better functionality long-term.
